Welcome! I’m Matt, I love playing the saxophone and writing music (most of the time)! I’m quite quiet at first until you get to know me and my music blends my love of Jazz, Folk and singer-songwriters. I’ve always been drawn to the deep emotive connection of music and some of my favourite artists include Duke Ellington, The Gloaming, Adrianne Lenker, Bon Iver, Keith Jarrett, Ben Webster, Brad Mehldau, John Coltrane. I guess my music has been inspired by some of these people as well as the musicians I grew up playing and listening to in Scotland.

I’ve been writing and performing with my regular band now since my mid-teens and I love the feeling of improvising with them live on stage and the trust we have - Fergus McCreadie (piano), Charlie Stewart (fiddle), Tom Potter (drums), Ali Watson (bass). We’ve released two albums so far ‘Where Will The River Flow’ and ‘Marram’ and performed throughout Europe from the Bimhuis, Ronnie Scott’s and with the WDR Big Band to our first gig at the Butterfly and Pig in Glasgow.
